She didn't wait for the lane to open.
Bonnie-Jill Laflin has spent her career going places women weren’t traditionally expected to go.
Long before “breaking barriers” became a headline, Bonnie-Jill was doing it.
She became the first woman to perform professionally for three teams across two major sports, with the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. She earned a Super Bowl ring with San Francisco and later five NBA championship rings with the Los Angeles Lakers.
But her most significant first came off the sidelines.
Bonnie-Jill became the first—and remains the only—female NBA scout, serving in the Lakers’ front office and making history in one of professional sports’ most male-dominated arenas.
She didn't just get a seat at the table. She changed who could sit there.

Bonnie-Jill didn’t enter sports broadcasting as someone who simply studied the game. She had already lived it—from the sidelines to the front office.
After making history as the first and only female NBA scout, Bonnie-Jill brought that experience to broadcasting, building a career across some of the biggest names in sports media, including ESPN, CBS, NBC Sports, Fox Sports, NBA TV, NFL Films, BBC Sports and SiriusXM.
As a reporter, host and analyst, she brings something different to the conversation: the perspective of someone who understands professional sports from the inside.

Long before Western became part of Bonnie-Jill’s on-camera work, horses were already part of her story.
A competitive barrel racer and member of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, Bonnie-Jill has carried her love of horses into nearly every part of her life. She created The Liberty Belles, her own rodeo drill and flag team, and brought her experience and enthusiasm for western sports to television as co-host of Women’s Western Sports Roundup on The Cowgirl Channel.
Today, she lives the life she talks about; at home on her Fort Worth ranch, surrounded by horses and the rescued animals that have always had a place in her world.
For Bonnie-Jill, western isn’t something she puts on.
It’s home.
GIVING BACK
SOME THINGS ARE BIGGER THAN A CAREER
For Bonnie-Jill, giving back has never been about lending her name to a cause. It’s about showing up.
As the founder of Hounds and Heroes and Horses, she has dedicated years to supporting veterans, wounded warriors and first responders while advocating for the animals she has spent much of her life rescuing and protecting.
Her commitment to America’s service members has taken her around the world on 19 USO tours, including visits to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Through Hounds and Heroes and Horses, that mission continues at home—bringing veterans and rescue animals together through service and therapy dogs, equine programs and retreats.
Two causes have always been closest to Bonnie-Jill’s heart: those who serve and the animals who need someone to stand up for them.
For her, supporting both isn’t a side project.
It’s personal.
